no PATS light at all

dear all

I am a new owner and  have a few small problems!!!

1) no Pats light at all, remote does not work.

2) having removed battery to treat rust now cannot use radio.

7000 with cd player

Vehicle is 2.3 auto saloon just turned 70000 miles.

Would appreciate help with these points and have found site very useful but jargon is slightly offputting!!

What does MAF mean?

I realised that OBD meant on-board diagnostics after a while.

Previous owner cant remember radio code. Is it possible to get radio code from VIN?

Thanks in advance

To get the radio code you need the serial number from off the side or top of the radio.. just buy some extractors from Halfords and pull it out... PM ( private message ) me the serial number and I will send the code for the radio back by return  ( In fact many of the members will do that for you ) with regards the remote clean  it all out and reprogramme according to the site ... HERE

you will find most of the site is best accessed from the index which is INDEX

PATS is Passsive anti theft system and

MAF is mass Airflow Sensor ..

Thanks for your replies.

I've managed to obtain the radio code and it works.

Will probably try some things over Xmas with regard to the PATS.
I've been searching the site and there is a lot of good stuff here.

Best Wishes

hi there

re the PATS light. the light is about 2 or 3" below the dash. what you see on the dash is just a cover on a tube. maybe the 'real' unit has moved a bit underneath?

My PATS/alarm warning light didn't work when I got the car a month or two ago. It was the first of the defects I rectified and took me just seconds to sort out and accidently at that.

The bit you see on top of the dash is just a cover for the light and lifts off. The actual light (red LED) is set some way below. I felt down the hole with little finger and (I guess) pushed the LED more firmly into its socket, after which it started to work. It is not very bright, only really visible in the dark. It lights up briefly after tuning the igintion on, when you lock it activating the alarm and gives a short flashes after that.

Thanks for all the messages. Tried reprogramming remote control on Sunday - no joy, not even a beep!! the seat memory works though, well I got a beep when I set it so we'll have to look more deeply. Will keep you informed.

Best Wishes and Merry Xmas
