Autobox fluid level

Checking a few things on the car yesterday and looked at the autobox fluid level, which I don't usually look at. It's a few mm above the max line on the stick (this is with engine running, though the car is nose down on a slope). Is it very bad to be over the max? Does the fact it's parked on a slope affect the level? It changes gear ok, no delay, almost no noise on changing (though there's no kickdown).

Gross overfilling is bad but a few mm over the max is nothing to worry about. Anyway the dipstick is in front of the box: if the car is nose down, your reading is higher than it would be on a flat surface.
Kickdown is triggered by a switch under the gas pedal. This is the first thing to check.
Cheers,
Mike

Kickdown is controlled by the PCM Mike, the switch under the pedal doesnt do anything

I stand corrected Embarassed
On my 1989 Granada/Scorpio that switch did control kickdown. Is it still the case on the 2.9 12V?
