7000 Radio (again)

Hi all

Quick question. Should there be any lights on on the radio when its turned off and you put the car lights on ?

The Granada Mk3 Cossie made the radio look like a christmas tree if you turned the lights on. The Scorp does nothing or are there bulbs blown ?

Regards to all

Yeah, all the buttons should light up. The keypad is lit by LEDs as I remember so they shouldn't fail. Could be a fuse, fuse 24 in the central box may be a culprit...

Good luck Smiley.

It is just the on/off - volume button which illuminates when the ignition is turned on and the radio is turned off, and as Paul says, it is very faint so it is visible in the dark but not too much of a distraction.

The rest of the lights of the radio only light up when it is turned on.

I have a spare 5000 unit kicking around with code if anyone is interested?  Not sure on working condition, I've seen it power up and accept the code but never had it connected to speakers.

I've just given up with my 7000 and replaced it with a 5000 that I got off E-Bay lst year.  Hopefully a reliable radio again 'though I think it has a lower power output than the 7000 - it hasn't got the heat sinks that the 7000 has.

No, but I'll upload a photo, I'll bet my XJ and a free trip to Amsterdam that my radio keypad lights up when the headlamps are switched on but the radio switched off Wink

Agree Have to agree with Baz,

It is just the on/off - volume button which illuminates when the ignition is turned on and the radio is turned off.
Bruce, Looking forward to the free trip to Amsterdam.  Grin

Don't mate, no chance this side of christmas Embarassed

Mabye after new year Wink
Checked it today, mine does light up when I put the headlamps on but if I then switch it on and back off again, it all goes out like Paul and Baz said, just the volume lit....odd, eh?

Lost the display completely now, that's really bugging me.

It's always been like it, I always assumed the keypad was lit all the time, apparently not so...

Regards, Bruce.
