Hi all
I hope sombody can help with my problem.I got a punchure in the front drivers side tyre and when i examined the tyre the inside of the tyre was very worn with the metal cable showing through. The rest of the tyre had plenty of tread on it.I checked the nearside front tyre and that is prefect with no tread loss.Has anybody experienced a problem like this before.

Well uneven tyre wear can be about adjustment, has the car clipped a kerb or traffic island at some point?

When you get the tyre changed you could do with getting the tracking checked

Hi Geoff
I have not clipped the kerb or hit anything. The tracking was done when the tyres were fitted.Would the tracking being out cause only one tyre to wear on the inside.

Hi Highlander
Not sure as it is now raining cats and dogs down here.
I have noticed from your responce to many other people that you are quite a expert on the scorpio so would the wishbone bushes be the cause of my problem.

hi there

could be the bushes or the ball joint (you need a new w/bone, if this is the case).

the scorpio's tracking can be ok on the m/c, but miles out when 'on the road'. this points to the ball joint, imo.

new w/bones are about £120.  Sad

The tracking would need to be  set  to   extreme  toe - out setting,   by a huge margin,   to cause  wear down to  the  carcass  wire   ( unless you spend all day driving round in a circle ) .

  Sounds   like  wishbone  trouble.

Hi all
I checked the wishbone bushes and the ball joint this morning and all looked ok. The bushes showed no sign of wear and the ball joint still moved when the car was jacked up. What i did notice was when i straightened up the inside wheel the outside wheel was out of line by about 1 inch approx. Would this be down to the tracking and there fore cause the tyre to wear on the inside only.
