Manifold smokin!

Finally replaced my cars HT leads in the hope of sorting the emmissions. The RH side of the engine is now throwing out exhaust fumes. I suspect one of the cylinders was not firing and now it is, it is showing up a blown manifild gasket. My Haynes manual says replacing the gasket is a one spanner job. Are there any potential pitfalls, nightmares? Should I just give up and scrap the car?

Got the heat sheild off and I can't locate a leak. I think the problem may be oil, seeping from the rocker cover thsat has built up whilst the car has not been used since new year, that is burning off the engine block. I give up. I'm going to get rid. I can't spend any time on the car at the moment and I need transport.
