Hi gang! i have had my ford Scorpio ultima 2.3 petrol for the last year i have had a few problems which have been sorted out for me but now i have one Serious problem, as usual i drove to the school to pick my son up without any problems when i got back into the car and tried starting it the car would not fire it would turn over then fire and then cut out straight away this went on for 6 mins then i put the pedal to the floor turned her over and she fired into life i drove home and used the car for another 3 days without any problems then the same thing happened again, this time i was getting a terrible smell of petrol every time the car was cranked so after 20-30 attempts without the car starting i left it for 20 mins turned the car over and it started but would not hold the idle when i took my foot off the accelerator it would stall and only start with the pedal pressed half down but now the car seems to be working perfectly again for how long i do not know. Are there any helpful guys or (girls) here who have had the same problem? or have any idea what my Granada needs to be healthy again. Thank you for taking time to read this and any help would be much appreciated.

Try reading through THIS page. Sounds like a faulty FPR. (Fuel pressure regulator.)
