Hi, I'm new to this forum, was hoping not to have to use it for a problem just yet but..... 1998 2.3 ultima estate. Just went out ot the car and started it, it started fine but when I push the gas nothing happens. cable looks ok at linkage but doesn't move when I push the pedal. Cable is connected to the pedal. Any ideas?? Snapped cable somewhere. Any assistance would be gratefully received

Sounds like a simple loss of cable!. Have you checked the throttle linkage as there are two cables if you have cruise control. The throttle cable comes through the bulkhead and the cruise control comes from the offside front behind/alongside the headlight. Are they both connected?.

I will check again when its light but it looked to me like the cable came through the bulk head then off around the back of the engine down the inside of the N/s wing to a box and then on to the throttle linkage. At the linkage there are two cables connected both travel forward one to a small box by the O/s headlight and the other across the back of the radiator to the same box the cable from the bulk head goes to.

The one to the offside headlight area is the cruise control one. On my 2ltr 16v the throttle cable comes direct from the pedal, round the offside wing and then to the carb linkage. Hopefully a 2.3 owner will add some advice.

OK, took the clip out of both cable adjusters, pushed the pedal to the metal and then let it off slowly. Put hte clips back and had a little accelerator control. Tried it again and now have throttle control. Think I might replace the last cable if its not too entailed.
