Need the last gear!!!

I hav a big problem whit my Scorpio 24v from 95.
It will not drive in the last gear... we have tjekt the vvs sensor and the speedo working fin, also the maf is clean.... Wat can be the problem

Hello..... yes vi have checked very quickly the wirring loom... it all startet wen vi adjust the brake bands and wen i try the car 2 min after the last gear was missing

Hi there!
We had a similar situation. Our car (Geraldine) would not select top gear (overdrive) when we bought her. After replacing the VSS, rebuilding the wiring loom, cleaning the MAF, checking the TPS & fixing an air leak (broken tee piece under centre of plenum chamber), we adjusted the brake bands & found that the front one was very badly adjusted. We guessed at the adjustment using a small spanner - problem solved!
It is critical that the adjustment screw is loosened by 2 turns after tightening it to 10lbft.
