Hi folks,

Just like to say Hi first off, seems like a good forum and website to match.

I just bought a scoripo (N Reg) 16v 2.0L Ultima, i'm assured the only problem the car has is that it needs a tune. It has had a new cylinder head and the Idle speed tends to bob up and down, kinda like a ghug. Normal driving is fine and it runs sweet.

I have to say that im very impressed with it so far, amazing car.
When i first picked it up though, the CD/Radio LCD was just blank ... no "CODE" display or anything, despite various attempts to get anything displayed ... strange i thought, then half way home it started to get extreemly warm ! the temp LCDs were displaying "LO" so i couldnt figure out why it was blasting roasting air at me, i thought that the themostat might be b****rd, not too bad really for the price i paid anyway..

Anyway .. the day after i decided to take it for a run, not only did the radio magicly display " CODE" and allow me to put the code in Cheesy also the heater system decided to work properly ! so im fairly chuffed now.
Only two problems remain for me now ...

Idle speed, is it right to assume all i need is a tune ? if so will it cost me an arm and a leg ?

Remote programming ... I followed the guide on a page here about the remote programming ... worked a treat, however 5 seconds after programing it and testing it it stoped doing anything, I'm thinking the batterys in the remote could be dud ... ?

Thanks for your time

The first thing to do is clean the MAF. The second most likely cause of idle problems is the IACV or an air leak. Battery change in the remote is straightforward. I'll put up the links you require. As for a 'tune up' I think most people would say that is a non starter BUT a scan to detail any faults is another issue. Some members here have the diagnostic kit and will usually help...sometimes beer is involved..!! The radio 'display' has a habit of doing this and the Climate control may need a re-set. You need to read up on it's characteristics. MAF,IACV, Remote,Climate control and re-set, and Scanning

Also, try disconnecting the plug from the Throttle position sensor and see if the fault imediately cures. If it does, replace the Throttle position sensor.

Hello
I had a air leak some time ago. Around the E.G.R valve on my 2.3DOHC.
This created my engine and rev counter to (hunt) rev slightly.
Even when engine was running it was hard to point. But once it was sealed it went a treat.
Try placeing your hand over the air intake slightly does this correct it?
Regards Derek.

Cheers for the advice folks. Not had the chance to have a look at this yet, bloody work.

Scorpius :
Should i unplug this sensor whilst the engine is ticking over?

I'll just add, when i put the car in Reverse of Drive it causes the car to jigg about more than if Park is selected, but its all linked to the revs bouncing at idle.
