Cold Draught

I have a Scorpio Ultima 2.3 with a draught from the L.H.S. Vent on the Drivers side.

There is a flap door that should have a plastic edge and it is missing!!!

How do I take out the Vent so I can repair/change this door?

Thanks in advance

You need to remove the dash panel. The vents are screwed in from the back. If it is the knurled wheel which actually moves the flap and sits in the centre of the vent it is just a push fit and will pull off/push on. Look carefully and you'll see a slot on one side where a tiny peg holds it on.  Para 4 HERE shows how to remove the 'wood' trim if you need to do so.

Thanks Simmo

the problem seems to be a broken door inside the vent - the plastic edge has either broken off or has been broken off and you can no longer shut off the airstream. The broken vent is one of a pair in the middle of the dashboard and I've got the climate control a/c.

I'll see how I get on. The car is in use 6 days a week so I can't leave it unfinished.

Best Wishes

this is an update to the post.

I went into Vospers the Ford agent in Marsh Barton, Exeter this morning and the part I want is not available -I would have to buy a whole new heating system!! No change there then!!

So does anyone have the ventilator parts available?
Specifically the flap door which closes off the drivers side R.H. side of the Central pair of Vents.

Thanks

Hi Roy

I have a few vent parts, are you after the flap from the inside of the larger vent, which is actually labelled as LH? Have you taken the vent out and checked it? As I have a similar problem with my vent, but mine is missing a small link arm which goes from the knob to the flap.

Yes the Vent has a diagonal top and it is the larger one. I wrote a post about 5 minutes ago and I dont think it went on.
