Wiring  to a electric motor seat ??
« on: Feb 23rd, 2007, 7:04pm »

I have bought a original  leather seat to the passenger site, with three motors, and a lumbar motor pump, that I have have changed, instead of the basic seat.( the seat have olso have memory function, because it have a flat plastic box underneath the seat, but that is not importing for me Wink normally its my wife that are sitting there)

The seat have a  a plug with 5 pins,  that now need some connektion to power.

 Why are there 5 pins?

I will normaly think that 12 v and ground will be enougth.

Which pin in the plug are 12 volt and ground.

Anybody  that have a electric diagram or a link ?

I have search the site and forums and search  under " seat-upgrade" but there is no help to this problem.

Any kind of help will be great Smiley

See here under "Power seats".

(Don't worry about the url reading "sierra", it IS for the Scorpio.)

The control box for the electric seat also connects to the central controller behind the glovebox.  You should be fine with just power and ground though.

Thank to Kjetil S for the very usefull link  for full electric diagram wiring for our Scorpio.

Strange it not on our fordscorpio site??

Now I hope, there are enought search words in this tread, for others members to find this usefull specific russia  link. Smiley Smiley Smiley

I have make copys of the diagram and I  will give it to my workshop or my frind that are expert in the electric system, if I can`t find out...

But there are still one or two thing I cant figure out.

The seat have a  a plug with 5 pins.

Why are there 5 pins? I can´t see why ?

Which pin (colour or place)  in the plug shall have 12 volt and ground.

The diagram shows that i shall use  no. 1 and 2, (where is the position in the plug?)

1 are 12 volt power and 2 are ground. The colour code  for power are OG/YE (no.1)

What colour is this in normal english.. My guees is that "YE" are yellow ,-  "OG" means ...?

In most of Denmark wee  have to bee inside today becouse the falling snow are change to under cooled rain, and the result are pure Ice,  when it toutch the ground.  Shocked Many big roads are closed and the military are helping.  Smiley

Thanks, that is great pictures, its funny to see the lumbar bag  for real. I think that may owners have problems with the lumbar bag or the seat heating  Cheesy

Its not difficult to repair, but its take some time to open the seat and put it on again Undecided A summer weekend will be find for that kind of job.  Tongue Wink

I can see there are 3-4 motors, but did not  know there was a  the littel pump for the lumbar inside the seat, that is great Grin ,- if it work...  Wink

But where is the swiths,- or have can I activate it, when I get power on it .

The extern  black power plug out from the seat  have 5 pins with 5 wires, why?

I dont think they all four are for 12 volt, one pin should bee enough ?

The intern connektions to the motors are done in the box underneath the seat,  and the connektions to the memory modul are olso done by this way.

The seat  heat wiring and seat-belt (sensor?) have seperate plugs and have nothing else to do with seat.

Thank for the dialog, this is very helpful for me and problerly others members  Smiley

The lumbar support is operated by pushing the back rest adjust switch FORWARDS that operates the pump and to deflate push backwards.... Its all in the handbook

hehe.. if anything dont work , try to look in the handbook! I find out now that  handbook are for all kind of Scorpio models. It have not been necessary to read these pages before, and therefore I have forgot, there was these pages

I have to tell that I  dont have the 3(4) store  buttons to the memory seat funktion.  Could the ekstra wires in the  main plug  be  used to control the mirror, that proberly are storede in the seats memory box and therefore useless for my use.?

I would guess at "OG" is "Orange", so that wire should probably be yellow/orange striped. (Too lazy to actually check the diagram atm, so I may be wrong   Roll Eyes)

Intresting! wonder if this is standard on ultima as I have 24v cosworth and would like electric passenger seat.  When you say only plug missing wa bum warmer, if current seat has bumb warmer then it should be no problem should it? providing that the loom is fitted as in your case, will have to have alook now.

My 97 2.3 Ultima (Now broken, but i retained the front seats) had both Velour seats electric, but no seat heaters and no wiring for them either.
My 95 Cossie has drivers Leather seat only electric but both seats heated.

What are the chances of converting the leather non electric seat to electric using the motors etc from the 2.3? If you see what i mean?

Not difficult at all, you swap the mounting frame, side panel with buttons and the back frame. Should be a pdf explaining how to dismantle a seat somewhere on the site
