hi ya peoples my 29 cossi failed the mot on emissions,got the car home having a look around my engine and have found that the erg valve is loose could this be the cause of the emissions being to high.lambda sensors are all ok, any help would great thanks nick

yes, this will cause an air leak and throw your emissions all over the place.

cheers mate got the egr off but ive found some exposed wiring on the loom which runs up the middle of the cylinders is this a common fault plus would this effect the emissions too,back to the cossi in bits to try and repair these faults

The failure of wiring in this area due to heat is well known. You will find THIS firm useful for wiring. BEWARE though the connectors on the Scorpio are not available as a separate item and those that look the same ARE NOT. If you can salvage the wiring close to the connector ,solder the new and then insulate with heatshrink material that is a way to overcome the issue. Some members run the wiring through heat resistant material to protect the new loom.

hi ya just to let you all know i have put my cossi back together the egr valve pipe was very loose but is now nice and secure,no air leaks on inlet manifold,plus mpg has gone from being at 17.8 mpg before now it is a nice 22.9 mpg so hopfully my emissions will pass the mot cheers nick

ive got until friday so new plugs plus fuel filter plus air filter so fingers crossed for friday cheer mate is does seem better,no little misfire now.thanks for advice this web page is brilliant  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

today is the big day MOT again,i have tightened the egr system no air leaks,full service new plugs,leads,air filter,oil plus filter,fuel filter,disconnected battery to reset brain there is a difference on mpg,so hopfully we will pass the emissions today ha ha ha

Cheesy Grin Coolwhat a wicked day it passed it passed so the egr repair worked well another joyfull year of motoring ahead of me,ok co level 0.12%,hc level 30 ppm,lambda 1.01,on fast idle,at natural idle co level 0.29.so this makes me a happy chap,
