Ongoing ventilation saga

Hi all As you know I've been loosing air-flow to the cabin with the air-con on presumably because of either a shorted mod or a faulty de-ice switch and I had booked the car to go and see an air-con expert to fix this. Today however I noticed that the same thing happened (eg airflow becomes noticeably out of sync with the speed of the fans) but for the entire journey I didn't have the air-con turned on. So could my air-con be actually okay and could there be some sort of mechanical problem with the vents? It can't be blocked pollen filters (filters are new) so any other suggestions? Cheers Penguin

Penguin, Just one point. The aircon WILL be on if the selector is set to 'screen' as I understand this is a default situation.?.

hi there unplug the pressure switch down near the air intake (bumper). this will disable the a/c so you're sure it's not that. run it like this for a couple of days. if no more issues, then it's the a/c system. hth

Will the air-con be on if it's set to screen regardless of whether or not I've turned it on at the switch? Cheers Penguin

yes. it might switch itself off after a few minutes. i can't remember the complete setup of it. the a/c to come on when set to screen is to aid the demisting of the screen. pull the plug. you'll then know if it's the a/c running all the time, etc. hth
