i 'm new to this board and i need help. problem is someone tried to break in to the car and broke both door locks. cannot get threw the car doors, but can get in threw the boot try to re-program the fob has new betterries fitted. this doesnt seem to work, is this because the doors are still locked. or should it work anyway. dont have red key, any advise

It's almost certain that this is because the PATS system has not been disarmed because the doors have not been opened with the correct key (obviously in your case because some filthy scumbag has broken them. B*stard!! I think you're off to FORD unfortunately. This highlights yet again the necessity of having a RED key, programmed to the car, and kept in a safe place at home. Without it, as in this case, when something happens, you are stuffed. Maybe one of our Senior Members knows a way round it? Hope you manage to get it sorted out. Personally I'd tie these thieving vermin up with razor wire, and then set fire to the fockers.

let,s hope someone can help. dont wont to go to ford. insurance will do it but at a cost of £350. they say car needs to be toed away and then the locks changed. if i can get the doors open then i can re-prog the fob and get the work done for £100

hi there you're right stuart. you can't program the remote with the doors locked. it sounds the alarm horn. maybe if you disconnected the alarm horn? anyway i'll remove part of my last post as it's not quite accurate enough. only way round this is the pm way, as far as i can see. hth

Well done guys for trying to help him out. I'm going to double lock my red key away today, where only I can find it. It just shows the hassle you can have when something like this happens.
