Cheesy hi all i am having a problem with the air con not blowing cold i fact i seems to be slightly warmer than the out side air Huh
the pump fires up on the push of the switch revs drop slightly but no cold air even after 20 mins
the car is at full running temp i dabed the valve open ao the gas filler valve gently and there is plenty of presure and there is a floresent yellow dye (i know what you are thinking i let all the gas out it was only a very very very small blip just to see if there was gas in it)
i have cheqed all the pipes and rad to look for the dye but all clean
i am guessing that the pump would not start unless there is sufficent presure but as i say it dose start so i am at a bit of a loss  Huh
so any help would be great  Grin
thanks

To check if the compressor is working, switch on the aircon & check to see if the clutch wheel (on outside of pump pulley) is spinning  Wink

Does the pipe go to the car get COLD when you turn it on....Huh?? If so then it would appear to working correctly.  Have you checked the filters and all the associated parts as well.

Follow the silver pipework in the engine bay to where the two both go into the cabin.  Just before this point there will be a square block valve with a "flying saucer" on top.  The narrow pipe between this valve and the cabin should be v. cold with the aircon on.  If not then check the narrow pipework before this valve and see if that's cold or not.  If it is then you've probably got a blocked receiver, if not then either there's no gas or the compressor is busted.

Air-Con trouble -shooting  is not really  a  DIY  option so,   better  you  take along  to your  local  AC  specialist .

 Chances are  it  only  needs a  re-gas  ( about  £50-65 )

Agree
lets face it most garages will rip you off and say one thing is at fault being a cheep fix and blame it on somthing that will cost a lot more (in my oppinion)
i have been  at the ripoff end to many times and now like to have an idea of what the problem is b4 i bite the bullet and take it to a garage for a repair
it is costly enough to run the scorp allready  Undecided

I don't think it's as much a rip-off in all cases, more of ignorance of the sophisticated system used in the scorp.
The basics of air con are quite simple until you start to delve into the sensors and relays used.  I think that garage staff have maybe been on a basic course to learn the reudiments, (get a starter) and then they tend to maybe fluff their way through jobs, it has been stated to me by 2 garages that "it is a learning curve", that's all well and good but it becomes at our expense....
My last re-gas the other week cost me £124 as opposed to the £55 quoted for the service, why? because I was told the pressure switch was faulty.  Was it?... No, the system needed a re-setHuh
How do I know this? because I refitted the old switch they had replaced and it still works... I rest my case m'lud
