Replacing The Centre Console (H/Brake Section)

Hi all, I have a damaged centre console (the part that houses the handbrake, the seat heaters, the ABS on/off switch and rear windows stop/start switch. I have got a replacement section and tried to remove the old one by removing the cassette box and taking out 2 screws thinking that was all to it. No WAY, there are 2 screws (1 on either side of the small open bin between the seats. Thing is how do you get these screws out and if that is possible are there anymore obstacles to removing this section of the console? I would like to get some feedback on this topic asap as the replacement section is just sitting there looking at me!!! Regards Gerryw ('97' Cossie)

Gerry, I'm 99% certain that there's the two screws inside the cassette box then then it unclips from there, you unplug the switches as you go. I had mine out about 3 times and don't remember there being any more screws. Like with most car trim, it needs a bit of care unclipping it so you don't break it. But, someone else should be able to say for certain. Regards, Bruce.

IIRC there are 2 cable tie type fixings at the front too. Might help if you use a torch to see underneath as you lift it slightly.

The two screws between the seats can be removed with either a stubby or right angled phillips screwdriver....it's still a pain though. When I removed mine (to replace matrix), I didn't even bother to try & put these two screws back in
