Still got problems

The problem with my gearbox is that it is not changing as it should. It engages in all modes but when driving the revs fly up and it delays in changing gear.Would a scan show up any faults? If so there is my next problem as I cannot get it to a garage,so if there is anyone who lives in the Greater Manchester area who can scan it for me I would be eternally grateful.Failing this I am afraid it is going to be off to the scrapyard as my patience has now totally gone.Thanks,Roy.

Roy, scan with live data will show the airflow reading from the MAF and most other sensor inputs, if this isn't working right it could give these sorts of symptoms but don't get your hopes up, I'm just repeating what I've heard. Is there anyone who could let you try a known good MAF too?

Before you do anything you need a scan with any fault codes read, I'd think that a fault like that would trip some, at least then you'd have some idea where the fault is.

My Cossie is doing much the same, (ie: revs surge before a gear change.)
I also have another symptom whereby it is lumpy when cold but fine once warmed up.
I had a scan done on the weekend and its running rich to the point where the ECU cant correct it.
this is apparently due to an air leak on the inlet side or vacuum pipe. I am hoping its a vacuum pipe leake and it cures the gearchange fault too.

Hi there I had a similar fault on an earlier model it turned out to be the kick down modulator. fancy name for a small piston in a metal case on the side of the gear box.  If it's the same you can find it by following the vacuum pipe from the manifold to the gearbox. it's held in place by a single 10 mm bolt, if you slacken the bolt and remove the clamp it simply pulls out,  In my case it was full of oil either from the engine or the gearbox, i changed it and the problem went away.  Be warned there is a needle roller on the end of the module which acts as an operating plunger do not loose it or forget to put it back as it could burn out the clutches.  Best of luck Smiley
