Traction control switch

Hi, just bought a '97, 2.3 ultima, did they come with traction control as standard, this one has a electric window switch where the tc one should be, and does absolutely nothing. Kind of trivial, but was  bothering me, if no tc, why put a switch in. Cheers

Hi JC, afaik the traction control was an option, mine hasn't got it and has a blank in the place of the switch.  If there are no wires going to the switch it is likely that the switch was added for some reason (probably for aysthetic reasons? ) I may be wrong....

Hi. No, TC was a cost option when my 2.3 was built in late '96, only standard on the 24v as far as I know. The switch should be on the centre console next to the handbrake. If it's not there there will be a blank over it, the switch you can see is to disable the rear windows, if for instance you have children in the back.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Bruce.

If it has TC, then it should have an electric motor next to the left headlight with a wire running to the throttle body.

Hi Bruce, this switch is underneath the rear window disable button, exactly the same as window switch, hopefully just there cosmeticly, i'll remove it & see what's behind it. Thanks for all the help. Jim

IF the switch and the wires work  Wink

Easiest is to have a look under the bonnet to see if the actuator is there.
