Hi Does anyone know is it possible to deactivate the front passenger airbag ? cant find any detail in the handbook. The babyseat is very difficult to get fastened on the back seat as the seat belt is about 10cm to short, so was going to try the front seat but need to deactivate the airbag first ?? Cheers Matt

hi Matt there isnt is 'kill switch' fitted to the scorpio, only way really is to unclip the wiring from it, but this will bring on the airbag light on the dash. you might be able to get at it by removing the glove box and reaching up, if not you'll have to take the walnut fascia off

Before disconnecting the airbags you need to disconnect the battery and leave for half an hour, if you don't do this the airbag can deploy givving you a nasty shock, the electronics are very sensative. To stop the light comming on you would have to go into the ECU system software and disable the airbag in question, I don't know if anyone can do this with OBD or if you have to go to FMD. someone may elaborate.... hth Pete

I've never had a problem fitting a baby seat in the rear...are you sure the seat belt isn't locking up or gunged up ? If the seat belt is okay, then it will probably be cheaper to get another baby seat that fits rather than start messing around with the airbags Also your front seat passenger's safety will be compromised if you de-activate the passenger airbag

and wouldn't disabling a safety device require you to notify your insurance company?
