Hello, I was wondering if any of you had the same problem - got locking wheel nuts and no key!! Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated as I don't want to have them cut off with a torch. Cheers Milli

Hmm Ford will be able to help you but at a cost. Failing that you can try long nosed pliers or a hammer and chisel and try and unscrew them or hammer a socket onto them

Hi. Never touched locking nuts but Screwfix(www.screwfix.com) do a set of emergency locking wheelnut removers, these might help.

In the past I've made up an emergency locking wheel nut tool ( due to a lost key ) using an old socket, epoxy putty and some cut-down masonry nails. Bit fiddly but it worked !

There is a code stamped on the locking wheel nut , its a small letter on the face ... quote that at any FMD and they will suppply a new key .... AT a cost of course.

Thanks for info. I'm going to check out the kit available at Halfords, £9.99, which allegedly fits most locking wheel nuts. Of course I will let you know if it's a success.

Milli If you are not trying to remove a wheel for a puncture and the car is driveable, you would be advised to go to the FMD in the car. I have a set of locking nuts still in the Ford box ( given to me with the car) and included was the socket . Only problem was it was the wrong socket. Supplied in the box with the nuts. So better check Alastair

You may have to specially order one of those Halfords kits, as I'd imagine they sell like hotcakes to wheel thieves

Halfords may have your key! After buying 2 new tyres, they gave me the wrong key back. When I found out several months later and went back to them, they let me browse their box of "unclaimed" wheelnut keys. There must have been 200 or more in the box and, yes, not one of them fitted. Ian
