hi, my friend has just bought a p reg 2.3 16v scorpio, the problem is, it sometimes stalls at juntions at tickover and when you take your foot off of the accelerator, then put it back down, it is jerky, plus the needle on the temp guage drops to the bottom and stays there a while, then shoots back up to the middle, any advise would be great, thanks.oh and i mean't to say, i have changed the fuel cut off loom and its made no difference.

http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/cleanmaf.htm I think this should be the first thing to consider doing to sort the problem out, also you may need to clean the idle speed control valve. The temp guage prob may be a flattish battery... i may be wrong.. hth pete

well i cleaned the afm, then cleaned the idle speed valve, the idle speed valve was very mucky, but when i refitted it, it started making funny noises and the engine stalled a lot more, plus the engine revs have started to go up and down more than usual, then every so often, it would rev a lot higher.there was also some yellow relays in the the fuse box, on the drivers side, these seemed a little hot.
