While the air filter box is    high up on the engine ,     the  air  trunking  opening  is  at   bumper  height.

there were some complete a*seholes there too be honest.

one clown in a VW sharan came through so fast, the spray was twice the height of his vehicle - in fact his spray was completely clearing the cars in our lane.

Would a new engine be an option - the footwells have water in and obviously the seat motors are under water etc.

What other electrics are under the carpets / seats

well got to the car today.

removed the plugs and turned it over by hand - stops halfway.

tried a quick turn of the key, clank, bang, clatter.

All electrics are working though.

Towed it back to parents house and waiting insurance assesor.

Do I let them write it off or try for second hand engine ?

What sort of prices are second hand engines ?

Personally I would let them write it off. Plenty of cheap Scorpios about nowadays. Trying to repair a flooded car would take so much time and effort IMHO

Insurance companies will always write off anything water damaged because of the endless list of problem that come up once the work gets underway, they want the cheapest option possible.

Bad luck, sorry to hear of that. Reckon a lot of people have lost their pride and joys  Sad

Engines can be replaced, how bad or otherwise the inside is would decide it for me I think.

If  you  can   wheedle  as  much as a   Grand  out  of   your   Insurance Co.  it   can  still   buy  you  a  decent    ( low mileage even )   Scorp.

However,   if  you   mention  the  original   Andy Warhol   poster  that you had in the boot  that's  now  just a  lump  of  Papier- Mache ,   they might  give you  a  bit more  (  worth a try ) Cool

You may think it is only carpets but the water will have gotten into places that it would not have reached under normal conditions... inside the box sections and such like. That would just have created problems for the future with rust coming from the inside out! Happened to an old Renault 16 I had years ago, the body was immaculate but the floors rusted from the inside out (double skinned floors) it turned out that the car had been submerged for a night when it was only 6 months old and then repaired!

If you do repair it, take care!
