Ford Focus...Yeah I know.. PATS key programming?

I have a '95 Cosworth, but my wife has just bought a 2002 Focus with PATS, remote fob etc but was only supplied with one key. I purchased a 2nd uncut key (with in-built 3 button remote fob), had it cut and managed to program the remote central locking fob ok, but I understand you need 2 programmed keys already to re-programme the PATS system. If you only have one programmed key it can only be done by Ford on a WDS system. So the new key opens the doors etc. (with remote fob or key lock) but can't start the car. Ford want about £77 to do this. Anyone got any equipment or cheaper way of doing this? Thanks Dave

Hi, Thanks for that, but the Focus doesn't use a red key (I do have one for my Scorpio), but it requires 2 programmed keys to programme a 3rd, and I only have one (and a 2nd cut key ready to be programmed) I am in the Croydon area and was looking to programme the 2nd key without paying Ford £77. Thanks Dave

hi there sorry, i meant the bit about a local locksmith. i got my honda done for £35 supplied with a new key. most of the better firms don't even need a coded key to start with! check out yellow pages or look at the places which do mileage corrections. they normally do it.
