The only way I know of resetting the PATS module is with the Ford WDS. Others might know more.

I'm assuming that the engine imobliser has some kind of safety mode the battery is new & fully charged ( checked it for a week in my Volvo 850 2.5 ) and it started that every time so I know its not the battery. The starter motor will not turn , I cannot hear the fuel pump. The starter motor is fine as I used a jumper cable on the solonoid and it spun the engine over fine, but does not start or even fire..... The car has been stood on axle stands for 10 months, the plugs were removed and I sprayed LIGHT OIL down the bores when I laid it up and once a month I turnen the engine over by hand ,the battery tray has always been in place. I also forgot to leave it in neutral and it is now jamed in park ( I assume once tranny fluid is pumped round the box it will release ) Any Ideas ??

A few thoughts that may not be much help: 1) the gear selector rod might need oiling. My car was stuck in Park after being sat outside for 4 months. A few does of good oil had it moving better than ever. 2) are you using the red key? 3) what, if anything, does the PATS led do when you put the key in and try to start? 4) what email program do you use?

It is possibly jammed in park because of the way the pinon drops into the gear cog trying to rotae the rear wheels by had both ways while trying to release the gear lever might help. It is like a parking brake . "P" does physically LOCK the box and stops ANY movement . Also which site are you trying to access?

The selector linkage has two metal rods which connect the selector to the gearbox. The two rods connect to a bracket on the side of the autobox, one at the top and one at the bottom, this bracket pivots on a centre pin and will seize up very quickly if the car isnt used regularly, DONT force the selector, you might free it off but you'll more likely snap the bracket which is made of light cast. Get under the car and try some relese spray, you can see the bracket at the near side of the box if you look up. If it still wont crank try the inhibitor relay in the OS fusebox

Thank you, I will try that tomorrow ( Wednesday ) and will let you know how I get on ....Kimi.... P.s. I never got the red key when I bought the car and I imagine the car would have to go to Ford M.C. to get one and getting it there would be tricky as it will not start....kimi....

No , I remembered that one. All the dash works as it should , electric windows, door locks , dead locks etc. etc. I can hear the abs pump and I belive the fuel pump run for a sec or two pressurising the fuel system.I haven't yet lubricated the gearbox as suggested yet, as other duties ( sorry I mean Wife called ) so I'm going to look at that later. T.T.F.N. ....Kimi.... P.s. what number is the inhibitor relay in the o/s fuse box

Number 11 http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/images/central_fusebox.gif I'm pretty confident the problem is either the relay or the selector (moneys on the selector though) And dont force it! I know i mentioned it before but i bought one with a broken bracket once as a non runner (it had sat a few months then someone tried to force the stiff selector) and its a gearbox out job to fix it! I was ok as it was getting stripped anyway but its such a big job for such a tiny job if you see what i mean Two screws secure the bracket but the box has to be removed from the car to get at them
