And another auto transmission problem

We changed the oil but it didn't help. The auto transmission won't shift down from higher to lower gears. I have to select gears manually, or else the car is near stalling sometimes. Any ideas?

go to a good independant autobox specialist they will uasally test the box free and give you a quote if you do not go ahead you will at least know the fault, if you ask your local ford dealer they will normally tell you who they use. they do not all do there own autobox repairs, mine cost £750 two years ago for a full recondition and i have not had any probs hope you get it fixed david

Hi. Get it scanned for codes, sounds like maybe a sticking solenoid or something? Odd one, if it changes up ok it might not be an autobox issue at all, might be a management system or loom issue. If you're lucky you might have a code or two there to give you a clue. Sorry it's only a stab in the dark, but better than nothing Regards, Bruce.
