Estate rear speakers.

Hi All ,

I can't get the rear speakers to work , no matter what settings I try at the radio. It seems that there is no signal to them. Fronts are o.k.
Could it be a connection problem and if so does anyone know where the connections etc are located?

Car is a '95 2.0 16v Ultima.

Thanks, Chris.

Could be one pair of channels in the amp blown. If it's the early 2000 series head unit, there are known issues with the speaker connectors overheating, at least in the Mondeo...so far 3 speakers in ours have packed up Sad

Might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the replies,

The speakers are o.k. Tried and tested elsewhere.
So it may be one of the problems you've suggested.
I'd hoped to work my way back towards the amp etc. to see if a connection had come loose/failed.
Knowing the cable harness routes etc would be really useful.

Thanks again, Chris.

My removal of the bottom trim panels to add extra cables for towing sockets, suggests the looms run along the door close bottom edges. If you remove the small plastic round blanking plugs, the trim panels are held in place by philips screws. These are the long plastic trim panels which run along the bottom edge of the doors.

Thanks for that,

I've managed to get as far as the front door pillar area but guess my next step is under the dash board areas. From the quick look I've had it seems that the wiring goes up around the glove compartment.

Next fine day this week end should find me tracing a bit further.
