Cossie running terrible please help !!!

Hi All, My green cosworth is still no better. Malc {one of the other members}, has been out again to plug in the obd, but its still saying NO, NO & NO on the oxygen checks & egr, and as a result wont let him into the program properly. I have previously placed messages on the forum & list about it, and the ECT was faulty and stopping things at the time.
I have replaced this with a brand new one from ford , but it cant be that at fault because it still isnt working.
Malc cant do a proper diagnosis, as it wont let him in as the initial checks are all No.
Problems are , fans do not work at all when plugged into the ECT, but work on high speed only when unplugged. Have replaced the fans, green relay, fuses, and now the ECT but still only work when unplugged.
Also, still have the rev problem. As you go part throttle {20% or more / 2500 rpm ish} revs fluctuate rapidly, and engine misfires badly and seems to hunt to run properly.
Any help or advice would be most welcome, as this scorpio has been a year long saga, with so many parts, diagnostics & hours spent, and its still not on the road.
Thanks Simon

Could be a few things really.

But from messing with a few of these cars I would say it sounds like you have loom problems.

Thanks for the reply, I wondered if it was, as everything else {for the fans problem anyway} has been replaced.
Would the loom also affect the spluttering issue ?

Hi Scorpio123

Re the loom problem causing misfire uneven running etc. I recently had the same problem to a much greater degree i.e. tickover for a while then flutter and die. Turned out to be a broken (intermittent) wire between the EDIS and the ECU. Discovered by a diadnostic test as below:-

Pin 1 EDIS to Pin 48 PCM (ECU) - black and white
 A four channel scope
Channel 1    EDIS positive - Ignition feed
 Channel 2    EDIS ground
 Channel 3    PIP signal
 Channel 4    Crankshaft Sensor

This is the wire that ensures the constant 12 volt supply to the fuel pump. Could be that yours is heading that way.

I'm not sure if the set up with the EDIS is the same in the cossie as it is in the 2.3 16v but may be worth checking

Does seem to be a wiring problem though

Good luck

Hi Alastair, Thanks for that. Definately seems to be that I have a wiring issue of some kind. Am going to get on with it this weekend & see if I can get to the root of the problem.

Many thanks Simon
