I'm changing ignition lock on my 2,9 Ghia. I've found an ignition from a 4-cyl manual. Will it work or are there codings which are actuated by the ignition lock which vary between the two?

I assume you have the key for the "new" barrel? For it to work you would need the black plastic part of your original key near the ignition barrel to overcome the PATS system. What I have done in the past is to remove the actual metal key part from the "new" key/barrel set and glue it into the black plastic part of my old key. or you can just hang the old keys on your keyring
