Very rough idle/misfire - Cossie

Ahaha.

I've just taken the centre part of the inlet manifold off to sort a leaking EGR pipe and poorly-sealed 'o' rings on the passenger side inlet spider. Everything's back together as it was, and I'm pretty sure I've connected all the vacuum pipes, electrical connectors and whatnot back up in the right order. But the car starts with a vroom! then dies immediately, unless I rev it, when it pops, bangs and generally sounds like it's running on 4 or 5 then 6.

I've got an OBD lead with Digimoto lite software (which doesn't seem like the best), and the first thing I have noticed is that the Absolute Throttle position is sitting at 0% and doesn't move. The TPS is definitely connected. I tried swapping in a spare TPS I had, and this doesn't alter the reading when moved either.

Next thing is to disconnect the battery in case the ECU has 'lost' the TPS setting.

Any other ideas guys? I thought it was a pretty straightforward job...

Checked and checked it. The wiring itself is brand new - I got a replacement engine loom earlier in the year...

I sort of thought that trying the other one was ruling out a bad TPS sensor. Seems unlikely that both of them are bad?
Will have a go tomorrow though. Is the check routine on the main site?

Cheers!

Hi Al

Have a look here:
http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/tpsdata.htm

You should get a fault code if the tps isn't working so maybe a problem with your OBD lead.

If you get stuck I can scan it for you, usually up your way Fri/Sat (assuming you haven't moved).

Aha, cheers Dave, that's something else to check. Am still Croydon way, yep, although am halfway-moved into the girlfriend's place in Worcester Park now. Scorp is still in my garage though.

I'll let you know how I get on. What OBD kit do you have?
