Hi all in need of some advice/sympathy please.
My 95 2.5 tdi broke down yesterday, AA bloke said that exhaust gas was compressing the coolant system and he thought that the H gasket had gone. It has ben losing coolant for a while but it doesn't drop any.
Has anyone had this problem? how expensive was it?
any advice very welcome thanks Undecided

There are 4 head gaskets on the tdi with seperate heads. They are one of the easiest gaskets to do because of the lack of timing belt there's no timing errors to worry about and the heads come off one at a time so there's no heavy lifting either. If you're thinking about doing it yourself don't be daunted and give it a go. If you're taking it to a garage don't accept a high qoute as its not that much of a job. Smiley Hope this helps,  Si

Had a look around and i think i will try a bottle of "STEEL SEAL" head gasket sealant, it may only be a shorterm quick fix but it will give me time to buy the tools etc for the proper fix. I think for £25 its worth a crack, will let you know how it gets on.
