Does anybody know if it is possible to replace the electronic part of the abs controller without bleeding the brakes ( is there enough give in those metal pipes ) better still anyone done it ? If not where is the best place to bleed the brakes from as both circuits would need to be bled.Is it from the abs controller itself many thanks j1guitar

As far as I can remember, someone has done this in the past few months but I can't remember where the posting is. I remember someone saying they had moved the units away from each other to gain access but it meant slightly bending the pipes, suppose they should be ok to a certain degree but too much stress could cause a problem. I have't split the unit myself although I have removed it when stripping my old car but I would think that it could be done with care.... Check the Brake section in the manual for instructions on renewing the unit, you'll probably get all the info you need from there.... hth pete

Hi there. Yes, I have just done it on mine as you will see from the thread. Just undo the nuts which secure the assembly(4 if I remember correctly-2 front , 2back). Pull the mountings off the pump out of the way. There is then enough "give" in the pipes to twist it round and get at the multiplug securing bolt, and screws which attach the ECU to the ABS pump. If your pipes are clipped anywhere round the pump, you will need to unclip them. It's pretty straightforward, just a bit fiddly. Good luck, Pat.
