Hi,
Ive got a 1995 2.9 12v scorp
When i hit 65-70mph the whole car starts to vibrate,it goes away if i slow up to about 60.Ive had the wheels balanced but that dont seem to have changed the situation
Any suggestions on what it could be?

Thanks

Try changing the wheels around ..... Front to back etc but it does suggest that it is wheel balance or you have a wheel bearing (s) gone but iwould have thought the speed sensitive shudder/wobble is balance related.

In that case check the bearing retaining nut on the hub you had changed they have got a habit of undoing , in particular as it is the nearside .....  Can you drive through it... i.e does it go away over 70 ( make sure you don't get caught)

Check the tyres carefully for any bulges etc. Run your hands over them after a run to see if there are any hot spots.
On a long journey once I had a vibration that kept coming & going. I kept stopping and checking but couldn’t find anything, I just assumed it had thrown a wheel weight. Finally I noticed some people looking down at the back of the car as they passed by. When I ran my hands round the rear tyre I found a hot spot & whilst looking at it the tyre started changing shape! When I eventually returned from my newly found hiding place it had a flat across the top of the tyre with the wall bulged out, so I let the air out & it completely changed shape where the flat was now bulged up so the tyre was egg shaped. The tyre fitter said he’d never seen anything like it, he reckoned water had got into the carcase & rotted the wires. I reckon I was about half a mile from testing out the Armco (in a 4 up holiday loaded Maestro).

Could be the rubber donut about to give out  Undecided

Had this on my MK1 Granny...was getting a bit shakey when at high speed .....then bang !! & felt like something was whacking the bottom of the car  Shocked.....was bits of rubber from the donut  Roll Eyes

Failing this theory...has the prop been detatched from the diff recently ?  Smiley

Sorry I should have used the technical term for the propshaft bearing to avoid confusion

It is as rightfully described by Jonnycab a "rubber donut"  Grin

Although technically they are two different parts  Wink
