online manual

Hello,
is the an online manual here? I have a few problems with my 1994 scorpio. It has a 2.0 litre dohc engine in it. First i have a problem with the coolant. After driving it to work(14 km) i have to fill it up with coolant, but not to max level but min level, because if i fill it up to max the coolant will blow out of the coolant tank...some say its the head gasket, but if i put my heater on at half, then the problem, will stay away, except for the filling up after 14 km. Second problem is that the engine wil skip over a few times when its cold and sometimes after i have taking it out for a few drives to town. Please can somebody in the uk tell me what to do? Here in holland there are only stupid mecanics, ive bin to a few workshops but they all say diffrent things......
Thanks,
Greetings rick from holland

Hi Rick and welcome to the site.

Does sound like there is a coolant leak somewhere and it does point to the head gasket if the coolant is being pressurised.

Could be leaking from a pipe or the heater matrix though?

Have you tried a new cap on the coolant tank?
Thermostat is ok?
Waterpump ok?

What do you mean by the engine skips? Does it turn over but not fire up?

Go to the home page HERE and check out the links on the left hand side of the page. Start with fault finder. At the bottom of the page is a 'search' box which will provide a number of results . THIS is what you get by putting in 'cooling system All the info you want is on this site in one form or another.  Welcome and good luck.

have you changed the plugs and the leads?
check the fuel cut off loom that runs along the top of the plugs for damage.
Might be worth cleaning the throttle body too.

I have to ask this (been caught out too many times before) Wink

Is it a Scorpio you have? the same as the one at the top left of this page or is it a Granada or Scorpio I as they are known in Europe?

ok checked the headgasket today with a special tool...you use some kind of fluid,if it turns yellow, the gasket is gone...and it turn yellow...it messures the ammount of co2 in the coolant... Embarassed...can i put a pill in the radiator and make it go away? because i think its not that bad,i have to check the level everyday and every two days fill it up to min level....but will it make a diffrence? Any other things to make it less or go away is welcom....thanks so far...and my new sparkplugs are in tomorrow.. Grin

Its better to sort it properly, if theres co2 in the coolant then the cylinders have been breached, its only a matter of time till it gets worse.
If you sort it now you may get away with a gasket replacement. if not you risk overheating the engine and damaging it
