electrical problem no headlights,wipers and inicat

hi can anyone sheed some light on my problem that started this evening on my 1995 2.9 24v est??
all was working well till i washed and waxed the car we also have had a lot of rain here in essex today to i thought all was well till about an hour ago i got in to drive i put the headlights on they just didn't work i also checked all the other electrics while sitting in the car and found the wipers won't work and also the indicators (although hazards work fine ) everything else seems to work 
faults are below
no headlights
no front wiper
no indicators
i guess they must be related
i have checked every fuse in both boxes under the bonnet
can anyone shed some light on my problem ? or has anyone else experiniced a simular thing
help me please

hiya mate. have you checked the connector at the main fuse box, drivers side? its not a push fit, it needs to locate into 2 pegs then clicks down with the spring clip.
or worse still, have you checked for water in the main fusebox?

the main fuse box looks dry too
do you know if under the fuse box there is anything that water can damage ??
what does that large connector power

it was the multi plug on the main fuse box.i had removed it earlier when unblocking the drain hole i thought i had put it back ok as it seemed to locate ok but i hadn't locked in the retaining pins before fitting from a few threads i read seems like i'm not the first ha ha

well at least i won't do it again
i started to worry it needed a fuse box rebuild.
one thing i do need if anyone has one for sale is a fuse box cover for main fuse box as i did mange to crush mine with the wiper mech (don't ask)
