Parking sensor alarm

Since yesterday, the parking sensor on my cossie has started playing up.
When I select reverse, the display lights up, then the lights go out and I get a continuous tone.

I've checked the manual and this states the unit is not working  Roll Eyes

Could it be due to water ingress(It has been chucking it down the last couple of days and I've done a hundred wet motorway miles)

I've checked the workshop manual for the three likely sources; Sensor/Module/Display. However, I can't find where the module and multiswitches are located.

Before I start stripping the rear of the car into bits, can anyone help with likely problems and locations?

Cheers,

Martin

That was my first thought. There was a small bit of road crud, but nothing major to worry about. Gave them a quick wipe, but no difference.

Having fitted one of these to a previous S reg Cossie, the control box is located in the right hand side of the boot area; behind the panel that contains the little door which you take out for changing bulbs.

two wire looms run from here, one to each sensor. Another 4 wire loom runs up into the parcel shelf where it connects into the sealed indicator unit.

There is an earth connection which runs from the main control box to the post securing one of the lights and the "power" cable; which is red, runs into the wiring loom in the right side of the boot, where it is spliced into the reversing light cable and soldered.

I do believe that the reverse sensors were a factory specified option (at time of ordering) but were actually fitted by the supplying dealers and not at the factory. Thats why there are so many rough jobs of the installation of the units into the bumpers!

I have the full install instructions if you need them
