Cos 2.9 v24 R reg Accelerator problem

Started last week, while driving the Accelerator peddle stops working the revs drop to 1000 , smooth running no missing, the pedal just wont work, while coasting turn the engine off and restart it , it goes back to normal, bit of a problem while on the motor way, any ideas ?

hi there
it might be the traction control playing up. have you noticved the t/c light on the dash?
try driving with the t/c off (light on dash). see if it still does it.
next would be checking the throttle cable/linkage.

no warning lights, now and again the o/d light flashes , but its done that for 3-4 years, would the linkage fix by stopping and starting the engine ? 18 months ago it had a new fuse box
