COURTESY LIGHT PROBLEMS PLEASE HELP
« on: Oct 29th, 2007, 6:20pm »

Hi I'm having problems with my courtesy lights,Puddle lights, Footwell lights, Map lights and vanity mirror lights not working at all. At first I thought it could be a fuse but then realised that the stereo was still working so i checked every other fuse and there ok. Then i replaced the timer control module to no effect. I can't here a relay clicking when i open the door either. Please help I've spent almost a year in a dark Ultima and its very inconvenient when you have to fetch things from the car in the dark. Cry

Even though the fuse was okay there was no power going to the relay so stole the power from another position that wasn't in use and now i can see again. The missus wasn't bothered until she noticed the vanity mirror light working, now I'm some kind of genius!??

Hi there, I have the excact same symptoms with mine.  They stopped working about 6 months ago and I've had a battery drain problem ever since.  I'd be really pleased if it was related.  Would it be ok if i gave you a quick call to clarify what exactly you did? I'm no autoelectrian but quite willing to get my hands dirty.  Thanks.

Thanks for the call scorpio_newbie, My interior lights are back on after following your excellent instructions.  I did plug in the cruise control relay which in turn put both my headlights on dispite the switch being off.  I've cleared out some autumn foilage from the drain hole and tried drying it out with a hair dryer for 20 mins or so but I think I'll take it all out and dry in out probably indoors.  I'm also suspicious that the multi plug might be part of the problem too.  can't really tell just exactly when the thing is sat in the correct position.  Will post a progress update in a few days.
