kNOCKING NOISE ON FULL LOCK TO LEFT AND RIGHT

I am picking up my new cossie addition on saturday and the seller informs me of a knocking noise on full lock left and right..but turning the steering wheel to the extreme point left and right doesnt cause any noises. I know it is difficult to judge without seeing or hearing it, however are there any scorpio fans who feel they could direct me towards the problem or infact have ever experienced the same type of problem which would lead me to the source and root of the problem to be fixed thanks so much Jaye Martin

Mine made a knocking noise on full lock when I first got it. It was caused by the tracking being miles out.

If it knocks, on full lock, when the car is moving over rough ground. Could be front wishbone lower ball joint wear

Power steering (when stationary) does 'grab' at full lock & this could be described as a knock by someone who doesn't how to describe it properly.....could this be the problem ?..... ...If so, then there is no problem, it's quite normal

Hi Jaye, I saw this car on eBay - must have belonged to a butcher... RAW - it went quite cheap [so you have a bit of financial flexibility] cos the owner hadn't got a clue and couldn't be a****d to get down on his knees and look at the lower suspension or even get a expert's advice. My opinon is it can't be the end of the world even if it involves renewing the lower suspension wishbones - a job I am in the middle of right now but I am at full stop! because I have two sheared off pinchbolts caused by me exerting too much force without the use of some heat to assist me and the lack of background experience, really in my opinion most large load bearing stress related replacement parts should be carried out in a garage where there is access to elevation and shedloads of expert experience etc. Are you a DIY mechanic? - you will need to be to save lots of ££££££££££! If you are, I can share my experiences with you. Firstly, the best thing that has happened to me is this website and the forum - without this I would still be lost in space. ....be in touch

Had similar problem coming back from Cornwall on Boxing Day. Fine the day before, but on pulling out from the kerb, heard loud clonking/pinging noise. Was okay driving in a straight line, but turning in either direction produced this noise. When I got back to Minehead, went to Ford garage and they said o/s coil spring had broken and would need to fit a pair to even it up. It's going in on Tuesday to have them fitted. Also going to try to sort out running fault after me emailing them lots of info from the site. I also had a new headlamp fitted after some clown backed into it. Guess how much? £230.00 !!!! Only had the car (24 valve Cosworth) since May and it's already cost me too much.

I see this is an old item now, but it just occurred to me that all the postings are dated the 11th of the month

Yes, I see what's happened. The month is being put before the day and year, which is unusual.
