The little rubber mesh filter behind the pump gets gunked up pretty well and restricts flow. Remove, clean and see what you get

I replaced the heated jets on my Ultima last year and I think they only cost a few quid each and are still available! They get all gunged up and need a good blow out to get all the muck out. I found it easier to swap them! The gunge comes from the additives in the waqsher fluids we put in Cleaning the filter is a good tip too!

Has the car been in the garage recently & had the engine tray removed ? When fitting the engine tray back up, it is easy to get the washer pump pipe caught between the front O/S tray mount & the chassis & squash the pipe Also, if the washer pump motor seems to be working, but no water is coming out, the washer pump inner seal may have gone Also, at the back of the bonnet, under the bonnet rug, where the pipe splits in two, check that the main pipe hasn't come loose & the water isn't just flowing out over the back of the engine

| The pump is in the bottom of the washer bottle, It pushes into the bottle via a rubber grommet, This pulls out and the filter is in the end of it. Just to add never use washing up liquid as this will fur up the inside of the pipes and give you many more problems

if you wanted to replace the washer jets do you have to remove the cover under the bonnet or do they clip out from the top of the bonnet

I think they come out from the top as you described but be careful as there are some small heater wires there as well as the jets are heated ( work in conjunction with heated windscreens) AFAIK

Tony, they do come out from the top but you will find it easier to access from underneath in order to remove both the tubing and the electrical connection. The bonnet insulation is only held in with 'buttons'. A hair dryer is useful for warming the tubing in order to release it from the jets.

| An easy way to check whether it is blockages at the jets or at the pump is to get someone to push the button whilst feeling the pipework under the bonnet by the hinge. If it firms up with the pressure, the problem is with the jets or the pipes to the jets.

When connected and the button is pushed i dont hear a thing (when im lying on the qround under the front bumper).... Im now thinking of checking the hoses and removing the pump the check it. Is this a common fault? //Snowy

Jepp... had to drain the tank first but i was no big deal. Got the pump loose, 0,00001 ohm when i measured it, and i hear liquid inside it when i shake it. Wont move when i connect it directly to 12v. So i ordered a new one... Will set me back about 35£ Disconnected the headlight washerpump, i find it not so usefull, spends alot of washerfluid and washes the dirt along the side of the bumper/fender... //Snowy

Finaly i got the new pump in place and its working fine. Thinking about installing a switch for the headlight pump so it can be disabled when not needed. Took the broken pump apart, the water had made its way inside along the pumpmotorshaft. Lots of rust and corotion inside. Had it only been taken apart erlier it maybe had been saved. Now i only managed to save the brushes and plastic casing. //Snowy
