Another 24V Gearbox Problem

I have been trying to get my auto box sorted. When the problem started, it basically lost drive once over 35mph and engine started chugging in some sort of safety mode. However I could put it into 1 or 2 and it would drive normally. That says to me that its electrical rather than mechanical failure. Have been advised to clean MAF and multi plug for gear box. Cleaned MAF today and from what i could make out the multi plug is on left hand inner wing under the power steering reservoir. Which one is it?There was a brown square and a black square plug, both held in with 10mm bolt (that I gave a good squirt with WD40) but there was also an oblong grey one also held by a bolt which i noticed just as it got dark and didnt have time for! Since prodding and poking the O/D light now flashes for a few seconds after start up. drove it and it still has same symptoms, any ideas what else to do? The mileage is 71k and the fluid isnt red, its a light brown, but doesnt smell burnt or have any bits in it. (Hope previous owner didnt put manual gearbox oil in, surely it wouldnt have worked at all?) Done at least 3k in it over the past year before it started playing up. Bit cheesed off with it to be honest, if any one wants it for £400 ONO then let me know.

Try disconnecting the maf after warm up and driving the car, see what happens. The gearbox connector is the brown one, also check the battery fuse box, is it completely dry?

It wont do any harm, but wont change alot if your fuse box has suffered from water/damp ingress as it may of already gone green and manky inside like mine did, only takes a few hours to take apart and clean, reassemble. TIP (if you give it ago, Take pictures and note what goes where)
