When  my Cossie 24V starts up the engine sounds as though it had a bag of hammers within, then after 1 or 2 seconds it quietens down to a nice sound.

Can anybody advise what this could be  Huh

I have an idea or two but no experience at all  Embarassed

hi there

a way to help this problem is to start the engine (from cold) using the Wide Open Throttle method.

FULLY open the throttle and while keeping the pedal on floor, turn the engine over for a few seconds. this will build up the oil pressure a bit, thus reducing the chain rattle (engine won't start as the ecu thinks it's flooded).

now the bad bits. Sad

your WOT relay/TPS  MUST working correctly. a 24v with a dodgy chain doesn't sound nice when starting at 6000rpm when cold!!! Shocked if the engine fires with your foot on the floor, switch it off right away.

you need a good battery to cope with the longer starts.
