Think yourself lucky it had been dropped in wine, in the old days we would occasionally get rusty alarm clocks in for repair that had been dropped in something under the bed (referred to as **** pot jobs).

Not quite that old “old days”.
I was born in ‘51, started my apprenticeship in ’67 so there weren’t that many of those alarm clocks coming in - I guess most people had inside loos by then.

Nice job, and good pics.

Ah,  but does it open the boot from  30 yds  away ?

My    record is  a  piffling  12ft.  ( double that if you put the remote under your chin and press,  don't ask how )

On the contact and PCB sides I used - wait for it...

DURAGLIT wadding, a brand new piece.

The rest a little detergent in warm water and a nail brush to get into the cracks and corners

Leave it all to dry out well,  polish up the Printed Cicuit Board with a soft cloth and

reassemble! thats it folks  Wink

I will give it a distance test later and post the results.  Mind don't hold you breath!

as you can see it is a bit old - like me... ever'body say ahhhhhh  Cry

Surprise surprise mr._floppy- come back all I said!

I was in my Morrisons car park and I walked towards my Scorpio pressing the

unlock then the lock buttons. At the point when the internal courtesy light came on I

stopped then I strode 11 paces, good strides, towards the vehicle I would measure

that a good  30 feet and that is NO EXAGERATION! at the RF pick up point I tried the

lock and then again the unlock and it picked up my transmission.

I am well pleased Cool

flasher lights response - mine does not follow the Owner's Guide Page 36 .To lock...

If you dig out my posts from late last year/early this year on the subject..

Whether it flashes or not is a matter of how the CCM module is set up. Mines is a late 95' and didn't flash - I managed to get the CCM from a P reg one, installed it and that one flashed.

The flashing (and several other optional things) can be changed by reprogramming of the CCM - but that needs special equipment. It was all discussed at length in the thread I mentioned.

Well done on the clean up operation, I quite regularly have to do this with various mobile phones owned by my careless family  Grin

I tried my remote distance a few nights ago, in a dark open car park (so I could see the interior light come on). It seemed to work reliably on the doors at about 20yds when facing the front of the car, but strangly I had to be much nearer to work the boot lid.

I notice there are 5 actual button positions on the PCB, but we only use 3 of them - I wonder what the others do/did/might do?

Grandad the details are HERE. As has been said not all cars are set up to do so but if they are it is simply a case of turning the key to unlock and then turning it to 'lock' and holding it there. The same applies in effect with the remote. Press once to lock and again to double lock when the lights will flash if set to do so.

Mine does flash twice on deadlock but I have to press it 3 or 4 times to get it to do its job - the book say press a second time within 3 secs this is why I posed the question.
The manufacturerw/design boffins would say to your inquisitive mind
"That is for future development"  or perhaps a more expensive vehicle where all singing and dancing version is on the spec. - but that i just spec ulation on my part.  Undecided

Grandad. Mine sometimes acts in this way. Just a glitch in the signal or the contacts etc in the remote I guess. Another peculiarity of Scorpio electrics.

Mine doesn’t always pick up the second press so I usually do it 3 times to make sure, same with the boot. Make sure you give firm longish presses - I found with the boot I was pressing too quickly (I think it’s being used to quick double clicks on the computer mouse).

I find the pressing has to be held a little longer than more modern cars - press/pause/release, press/pause/realease. The Scorp doesn't like to be hurried to much Grin
