Despite having replaced those bushes myself, I can't quite work out from the photos what has gone wrong - but certainly it looks very wrong. You are right to be worried!

hi there

it's been an age since i done mine, so i can't remember exactly, but looking at the diagram, the washers should be only at the end.

If you look where the arrow is, he has put a large washer on the the rear facing bearing shaft, then the rubber bearing assembly and tightened the whole thing very tight before fitting the wishbone to the vehicle.
I hope this clarifies it a bit better  Undecided

I think you are right scorpio_man  Agree

Regarding the wishbone rear bush...yes, that washer should be there & if you look closely at it (when it's removed) you will see it is shaped inwards on one side around the hole, so it fits snug to that part of the wishbone  Smiley

Just to clarify, there are two washers, one either side of the bush  Smiley

Also, it shouldn't have been tightened before the wishbone was fitted. It should be tightened after the wishbone is fitted & the weight of the car is on the ground, otherwise it will exert extra pressure on the bush & the bush will fail prematurely  Smiley

Hope this helps  Wink

Here's a picture of what it should look like .
I think it's OK, the washer should go between the bush
and the rear shoulder of the wishbone.

I thought for a minute it had been put on the wrong way round.

The washer is shown...it's number 23. The diagram isn't very clear about it going on before the bush. But if you think about it logically, why would you need two washers at the end ?  Huh

The bad news in this dilemma is that the washer only apears on the OSF drivers side which is what started me thinking is that right  Huh  Undecided

Go back to the mechanic & ask him to put a washer on the other side. He doesn't have to remove the whole wishbone, just undo the rear holding nut & 4 clamp bolts, lever the arm down & pull the bush off. It shouldn't take too long  Smiley

Yeah jonnycab I do think that you are right!

so the sequence would be shaft then>  [refer to diag for#]

1. large washer [#23]
2. rubber bearing assy [#7]
3. washer [#22]
4. 18mm nut [#20]

We are nearly there - one last thing - The recommended torque for this particular

retaining nut [#20]   Huh

There doesn't seem to be a recommended torque for this nut (20), it should just be tight.

But not super tight though, I once managed to shear off the end of the wishbone by trying to get it as tight as possible  Huh..... Roll Eyes

I have updated my latest picture which really puts this matter to rest - it looks as though my mechanic has messed up with his sequence of re-assembly of the parts and I picked it up!

But I did say at the begining I am a bit pedantic and I like things done according to the 'book' especially when I am shelling out good money to the experts of this world

btw the latest and last pic is THIS one
