Flashing O/D light

A week ago (on a particularly wet night), I noticed my O/D light started to flash while on a short run.....Hmm, it's never done that before  Huh

The autobox still seemed to be behaving as normal but the O/D button wasn't working  Huh

I pulled into the nearest petrol station after I had dropped my fare off, switched off the engine & plugged my handheld OBD reader in & there were no codes.

Then checked the autobox fluid level, which was fine.

Then checked that the MAF multiplug was on properly...yep that was okay.

I pulled off the MAF multiplug & checked for any moisture, but there was none.

So replaced MAF multiplug, started car & the O/D light was no longer flashing.....

.......And it hasn't flashed since  Smiley

I'd cleaned the MAF a couple of weeks before when I changed the air filter, so I knew the tiny wires weren't dirty & I read this page when I got home....http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/odlight.htm

Even though it was a wet night, I've been out on wet nights since & the O/D light hasn't started flashing  Smiley

Does anyone know if this may be a cause for concern in the long run, or could it have been just an electronic hiccup ?  Undecided

Gremlins perhaps ?  Roll Eyes

hi there

it may have noticed something not quite right on one drive cycle, but as it ran another check, the issue cleared itself, so no code was stored.

what sort of speed were you at?

Keeping an eye on it mate & it hasn't come back on yet, so fingers crossed  Wink

Snoopy, if it is elves & I find one, then I'll keep it hostage until Santa leaves me a spare autobox under the Christmas tree  Grin

Taking hostages especially of the elf variety is frought with EXTREME danger.. Hostage taking NEVER achieved anything . Its far better to ASK santa for one.. Much better chance that way...Ho, Ho, Ho,
