No Batt Light, Losing Voltage

Hi there,Yet another electrical problem with the scorp. I turn the ignition on to start but the battery light doesn't come on atall, and when i drive it, It takes alot of revs to get the voltage up to about 13.7 on the dash read out but drops quite easily with lights and heater on and I've had to jump start it twice so far this week. Please let it be something simple like a fuse, I've just put a battery on to no effect (had to be done anyway though as someone had fitted one for a petrol instead of a diesel) and I'm starting to lose my rag!!! If the battery light bulb has blown then the alternator wont be charging the battery, sounds like the problem, its a dashboard off job to replace the bulb but a cheap fix Smiley

It sounds as though you need to ask Santa for a new alternator  Wink

Took the dash out last night to check the bulb and it seemed to be ok.Drove it for about 2miles this morning and the battery light made an appearance, gave it a little rev and it went out. It's been back to normal ever since. Just hope it stays that way.

Sounds like it was perhaps a bit of oxidation on the lamp contacts.
