Hi, i have bought a dvd stereo for my scorpio. My car has the 2007 unit with amp, and i was just wondering if it will work ok if i just cut the grey ribbon cable for the speakers and leave the amp alone? Also can anyone tell me if its ok to leave the wire for the alarm disconected or will that cause problems. cheers.

You need to take the plug out from the speaker side of the amp and extend the wires, Have a look HERE it may help you.
What screen have you got as you may have trouble fitting it, A double din won't fit as there is only space for a din 1/2 and a flip out screen won't be far out enough to display properly, However I will be making my double din fit Wink
As for the alarm, Can't help you there sorry.

What unit do you have, I have a Kenwood DDX-6029.
Do you have an auto also as I am not sure that when you have it in park there is enough room to eject a disc with the screen Undecided, Not on the Kenwood anyway.
I am midway through doing my system again, Have just made an amp rack and put three 12" subs in the boot Wink

Hi, the stereo i have is one of those chinese import jobbies off ebay with bluetooth, sd slot, tv tuner ect.. cost £200. Have to wait to see how reliable it will be? I have also taken a front off a broken ford radio and it fits nearly over the screen (to hide it from thieving b'stards!).When i get round to fitting it i will post pictures. cheers.

Have you been watching me Cheesy I have done exactly the same thing Grin
I have been told that those import ones tend to overheat so be careful Wink
You could wire a PC type fan up via the remote wire to help with cooling Roll Eyes

It would fit but the monitor doesn't come out far enough to display at the right angle, You could either find a way of mounting it further forward or get one of these, or modify the dash and fit a double din.

£199.99 from HERE

[edit]You can find it cheaper if you Google it Wink[/edit]

The only trouble with bringing it forward to fit I can think of is that it might not be very secure to thieves and also it may have to be so far forward it would foul the gear lever on opening, I would go for modifying the dash for a double din myself, something that I will have to do  Wink
My Kenwood I bought for my other car and I will be swapping it over to the Sony I have in the Scorpio.
Here are some pics in the Renault;

Specs HERE
If you are going for a double din like mine then get the latest  model, It has USB inputs and has better specs etc.

Mods in the making are new boot build + other ICE mods and rear spoiler, although now on hold because it is to cold Grin

ANY UPDATE  Huh Interested to know how the installation has gone.

With single DIN DVD players the screen pops out above the radio and so wouldn't be compatible with shape of the Scorpio's protruding dash as has been previously mentioned, but I have always wondered if the viewing angle on a double DIN may be okay assuming that the unit can fitted in the first place. Huh

The angled view clearing couldn't be used whilst the gear lever was in park but they do I believe go to 90 degrees as well. Ideal for use whilst driving.

I currently because of this problem have a single DIN one installed with a built in screen. Excellent picture quality and the viewing area, though small, is still ample enough to watch a film comfortably, but still a bigger screen wouldn't go a miss as long as their was no major loss of picture quality as I view DVDs on it on a daily basis.  Embarassed
