Electrical probs 95N 12V Ultima

Hi, I'm a new owner who may have been sold a pup... My car has lots of intermittent faults, clicking starter, dim ignition lights, losing power, not starting, speedo and rev counter reading max, I could go on (unlike the car!) Today it has flashing abs and airbag lights and a 'zizzing' control unit in the passenger footwell. For no good reason I disconnected the battery and reconnected it which stopped the zizzing and it decided to run whoo-hoo! It also has, less importantly just now, no main beam, only one wiper position working, no interior lights, no hazards or washers. There is recent looking silicone under the drivers fuse box It is a 95 12V Ultima estate with LPG (gas works ok) Any ideas please? Nick

Check for water in the fuse boxes - can play havoc on these cars. Silicone points to someone having tried to fix a water leak. Is the battery cover in place ?

Thanks for that, they seem dry now but show old stains- would WD40 into the fuse boxes be a safe experiment? N
