Well after talking to Scorpio man last night I embarked on stripping the cover off the gear shift to see if the plastic plunger had failed, answer NO Cry

So here i am still not able to get into gear, shift moves up and down smoothly with no clicking as normal, in reverse no reverse light are on, so does anyone have any ideas before it goes to the garage? Could it be the transmission range switch, and if so how can it be tested?
Does anyone have one lying around that works and they would part with?

have a look at the wiring while you have that part stripped off.

then have a look under the car at the linkage, its in 2 parts joined together with a small bolt, if its lose or come undone the shifter will move but the 'box will stay in park

Thanks Matt have checked linkage once and it all moved when the shift handle move, however told today by gargage to check it actually rotates the cross shaft. there is a scribe mark on it and it did not seem to move when I tried to check it.  Doing it again tommorow with me under car and second person operating the shift.

But still open for ideas. Grin
