b****r, blast and d**n...as the rector said, my missus has bumped the Scorpio..black  Cossie estate, looks like new. Needs a wing /bonnet /bumper /headlight/ headlight sprayer/foglight and indicator..Now, working on the basis that at best they're going to value my car (mint/2 owners/full service history) at a couple of grand at best, do you think that they are going to fix it?
Are the parts available perhaps more important?
Any advice much appreciated
Cheers
Brian

Wing probably best bought new as it is welded on - all the other parts should be easy to get hold of from a breaker or you might want to buy a complete scrap car, take what you need and then sell the rest - plenty of eager customers on this site  Grin

Ahhh, yes but she hit another car, so it's going through the insurance, do you think that they'll write it off given that sort of damage?

Short answer  YES.... ! Better to buy it back if they do and repair it yourself... Scorpio Man had the same problem about 18 months ago ... Realistic value of your car is most likely TOP book at the best £2K on a good day depending on year and mileage....

I had a bumper and headlamp on the insurance
last year and that cost over 600£ and it was only the condition that saved it and an understanding assesor.. Good luck with it.

Hi,

Although 'er indoors has hit another car, yoou do not have to add the damage to your car to the claim, i.e. you repair it yourself and dont claim from the insurance for the repairs.  This way you definitely get to keep the car, otherwise its a bit of a lottery whether or not you get a decent assessor as Snoopy says.

HTH,

hi there

yes, i think it will be wrote off. Sad any bump that needs a bonnet is a gonner.

new (patterned) wing costs about £60-90. all other parts you will get s/hand, bar the headlight washer.

by the sounds off it, it will need 'pulled' straight. not sure if i'd go through it all again. only did it because of my lpg conversion. Undecided

Here's what happened to me last year, the insurance co said mine would be written off....  Angry I told them I didn't want it to be written off and then I had to persue the claim through the ULA.
