2.3 Mis-Firing on acceleration

I've had this problem for some time now. It started with a simple case of mis-firing when I accelerated, thinking this was plug leads I bought a set (wow not cheap) fitted them, all went ok for a month then it started doing the same again, thinking it was a duff plug lead at first I checked with someone who knew the scopio and he suggested maybe it could be the air flow meter. He suggested I pull the plug of it and try that. I did exactly that and except for a little mis-fire on starting off it was cured I could even go up hills, so I purchased a new air flow meter, fitted it and what do you know were back to all the mis-firing, disconnected it and back to a little bit on starting nothing else. Help.

Sounds as though it could be the coil packs on the way out Or maybe the wiring loom insulation (where it goes to the coils) has crumbled away

Have you checked the spark plugs? I had similar symptoms and they were cured after changing the plugs.

Well the plugs are new' about a month, platinum ones. The coil packs also. It is 'almost' cured by disconecting the air flow meter. Logic would say that it would be cured by connecting a new one not disconnecting it. Anybody know where the air fow meter is connected to.
